Comprehensive Nutritional Assessment
with Metabolomics and Proteomics

Metabolomics and proteomics applications in nutrition allow for an understanding of the complex interplay between diet, metabolism and human health, paving the way for tailored nutritional interventions and precision wellness strategies. By capturing the metabolic fingerprints associated with diet and nutrient utilization, gain a comprehensive assessment of an individual’s nutritional status. With a global view of the proteome, identify specific protein biomarkers associated with dietary habits and nutritional status.

Molecular Nutrition

An example of a molecular nutrition metabolomics study – performed to characterize substrate utilization during fasting in plasma. In this study, respiratory exchange ratios are used as a clinical index to assess metabolic pathways and plasma metabolites associated with substrate utilization in healthy, fasted adults. 1389 metabolites were identified that enriched within 13 metabolic pathways involved in carbohydrate, amino acid and lipid metabolism.

Next-Generation Metabolomics can be applied towards nutritional science to study the effects of nutrients and food components and how these affect whole body physiology and health status at a molecular and cellular level at the individual level or in a population.
