Panome Bio at ASMS 2024: Celebrating Innovation and Discovery in Mass Spectrometry
The 72nd ASMS Conference in Anaheim this June was an exciting and memorable week for Panome Bio, marked by scientific innovation, collaborative exchange, and a prestigious honor for one of our own. We were proud to participate in this world-class event alongside the broader mass spectrometry community, sharing our latest research and technology across multiple presentations and posters.
A major highlight of the week was the presentation of the Biemann Medal to our Chief Scientific Officer, Dr. Gary Patti, by the American Society for Mass Spectrometry. This award recognizes significant achievements in basic or applied mass spectrometry by a scientist early in their career, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to see Dr. Patti’s contributions recognized at this level. His pioneering work continues to shape the future of metabolomics and multi-omic research.
In addition to the award ceremony, Panome Bio contributed a series of impactful scientific sessions and posters:
Oral Presentations – June 4 & June 6
Dr Gary Patti presented two talks on June 4:
- “Shedding light on the dark metabolome: Structural identification of three novel metabolites using chemical tagging and tandem MS”
- “Using ADAP-BIG to curate a benchmarking dataset generated for evaluating software tools for preprocessing mass spectrometry-based metabolomics data”
- Dr Ethan Stancliffe presented on June 6:
- “Integrated Multiomic Discovery in Colorectal Cancer”– Highlighting how Panome’s Next-Generation platform enables discovery of novel disease biomarkers through combined proteomic and metabolomic analysis.
Poster Presentations – June 4, 5 ,& 6
- June 4 – Dr. Adam Richardson
- “Untargeted metabolomic profiling reveals process optimization strategies in a mock bioreactor”– Showcasing how untargeted metabolomics can inform bioprocess development and optimization.
- June 5 – Ashima Mehta
- “Untargeted phosphoproteomics reveals unique biomarkers of colorectal cancer”– Exploring phosphorylation patterns as potential diagnostic indicators in cancer.
- June 6 – Ethan Stancliffe
- “Integrated metabolomics and proteomics reveals systemic and localized metabolic disruptions in colorectal cancer”
- June 6 – Monil Gandhi
- “Integration of untargeted metabolomics with targeted profiling of inflammatory proteins to define the metabolic fingerprint of inflammation in COVID-19”
ASMS 2024 was a fantastic opportunity to engage with peers, share our science, and learn from others pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with mass spectrometry. We’re grateful to everyone who visited our booth, attended our sessions, or stopped by to chat.
